Hot Blue Cheese Sausage and Mushroom Dip

Ingredients

  • 16 ounces bulk roll sausage
  • 1 cup onions, diced
  • 5 ounces (about 3 cups) shitake mushrooms, sliced
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 5 ounces (1 1/4 cups) Treasure Cave® Crumbled Blue Cheese, divided
  • Bread or crackers

Directions

  1. In a medium skillet over medium-high heat, cook the sausage and onions for 3 minutes, breaking the sausage apart as it cooks and stirring frequently. Add the mushrooms, stir and cook until the sausage is brown and fully cooked, about 5–6 minutes more. Then, drain the grease.
  2. Cut the cream cheese into chunks and add them to the pan. Set aside 1/4 cup of the Treasure Cave® Crumbled Blue Cheese. Then, add the remaining 1 cup of the Treasure Cave® Crumbled Blue Cheese to the pan.
  3. Heat the sausage mixture, cream cheese and Treasure Cave® Crumbled Blue Cheese over medium heat until the mixture is hot. Pour it into a serving dish, sprinkle with the reserved 1/4 cup of the Treasure Cave® Crumbled Blue Cheese and serve immediately with bread or crackers.
